HexEdit can edit a 244 GByte file. In fact you could do this very quickly (ie less than 1 minute) in HexEdit, unlike any other hex editors I have tried.
However, HexEdit is a Win32 program and does not run on Solaris (or any version of UNIX). Can you get the file onto a Windows system (must be NTFS filesystem to handle that big a file).
The last time I looked UNIX hex editors were limited to 2Gbyte or 4GByte files (mainly because UNIX filesystems also had this limit). There may be UNIX hex editors around nowadays to do this. Good luck finding one that will do what you want.
PS This is not an installation problem so I will move it to the "Hex Editing" area.
